    About Startup Weekend

Startup Weekend is a 54 hour event that brings together designers, developers, entrepreneurs, and experts from all domains to do amazing things.

All Startup Weekend events follow the same basic model: anyone is welcome to pitch their startup idea and receive feedback from their peers. Teams form around the top ideas (as determined by popular vote) and embark on a three-day frenzy of business model creation, coding, designing, and market validation. The weekend culminates with presentations in front of local entrepreneurial leaders with another opportunity for critical feedback!

    Charlotte Startup Weekend

The Charlotte Startup Weekend is a generic format meaning that an idea from any market vertical can be pitched and worked on. lots of interesting ideas come out of these startup weekends! Lots of fun and definitely worth attending.

    Triangle Startup Weekend EDU

The Triangle Startup Weekend EDU has a focus on the education vertical. Come with your ideas on great products and services in the education space.

Note: Triangle Startup Weekend EDU is going on at the same time as Triangle Open Data Day (TODD). From the Hunt Library, you will be only a few buildings over from Engineering Building II where TODD is happening. So stop by and get the advantage of adding an open data facet to your Triangle Startup Weekend EDU project!

    Triangle Open Data Day 2015

Raleigh, NC – Registration for Triangle Open Data Day 2015 (TODD) is open and tickets are going fast. We sold out last year and are expecting another sell-out crowd this year. We will be in the same location as last year at the Engineering Building II on Centennial Campus which proved to be a great place to hold the event.

Triangle Open Data Day LogoThis year we will be putting more focus on the hackathon and will be identifying mentors that can help you start and rapidly progress on an open data project of your own interest. We are looking for mentors with programming, start-ups, data analysis and open data skills to help us out at the event.

For some of you this is a warm up for the NC Datapalooza competition to be held later in the year, so come out and figure out what sort of winning project you can start working on for that competition.

Our keynote speakers are the Durham CIO team of Kerry Goode and Greg Marrow who will be informing us of the different direction that Durham is taking over many other US cities in their upcoming open data program.

This year you will also be able to interact with the Open Data Institute of North Carolina (ODI NC), the local affiliate of the Open Data Institute co-founded by Sir Tim Berners-Lee, founder of the Web and the overall director of the W3C. Triangle Startup Weekend – Nov 15-17

Chapel Hill, NC – Are you ready for a third Triangle Startup Weekend (TSW) this year? The 2 previous TSW’s were not enough for you? Well, if you listen to Mital Patel, a local lawyer and technologist, the Triangle is primed and ready for many more startup weekends than 3 per year.

    What is a Startup weekend?

Startup Weekends are 54-hour events designed to provide superior experiential education for technical and non-technical entrepreneurs. Beginning with Friday night pitches and continuing through brainstorming, business plan development, and basic prototype creation, Startup Weekends culminate in Sunday night demos and presentations. Participants create working startups during the event and are able to collaborate with like-minded individuals outside of their daily networks. All teams hear talks by industry leaders and receive valuable feedback from local entrepreneurials. The weekend is centered around action, innovation, and education. Whether you are looking for feedback on a idea, a co-founder, specific skill sets, or a team to help you execute, Startup Weekends are the perfect environment in which to test your idea and take the first steps towards launching your own startup.

    The November TSW

The November TSW does not have a specific industry focus and will be held at the Frank Porter Graham Student Union of the UNC – Chapel Hill campus. This location is a ‘new idea’ in that this TSW will be held on the campus of one of our premier Triangle University Centers (tapped into raw talent).

There is currently an early bird registration with a discount for students. There is also a Demo Day registration for those that want to see the results of the weekend (highly recommended for those interested in the ideas coming out of the Triangle Technology Ecosystem).

Don’t hesitate, register today as tickets are limited.

    Global Startup Battle

This event is part of the 2013 Global Startup Battle and precedes the Global Entrepreneurship Week.

(Note: Tech Tank is sponsoring a Triangle Entrepreneurs Luncheon at Embassy Suites during the Global Entrepreneurship Week. We’ve lined up Mital Patel for some Q&A during lunchtime. Mital is a key cog in the Triangle entrepreneurial ecosystem. A lawyer and technologist, Mital has been part of the some of the Triangle’s most interesting projects. Event Registration)
