Technology Tank is an organization that studies technology, communications and engagement for government, business and non-profits.
Tech Tank had its genesis as the Town of Cary’s Technology Task Force (TTF). *
In July of 2012, TTF was commissioned to study technology and engagement for the town. Over a four month period, the nine members of the original task force studied a wide scope of questions including municipal websites, mobile applications, social media, open data, video, Cary as a community tech hub, legal issues and sustainability.
On this last question – sustainability – founding a think tank proved to be the answer. Tech Tank was formally launched in December 2012.
* Note: As of January 2015, the links to the TTF pages on the Town of Cary Website were noticed to be 404. The Technology Task Force page is no longer present on the special committees list on the Town Website, but a few documents can still be found by searching the Town Website. The WordPress blog used by the task force is still active at CaryTTF.com and the final report of the task force is maintained on the Tech Tank SlideShare account.
