Dart Flight School – Saturday, February 8, 2014 from 1:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. (EST) in Durham and Raleigh, NC. Dart Flight Schools are community events run by Google Developer Groups to help developers learn Dart and Angular. Dart Flight Schools can be different in each location based on the organizers, local skill sets and interests. There can be tech talks, code labs or even mini-hackathons. The Dart Flight Schools in the Triangle are run by the Google Developer Group in Research Triangle (GDG Research Triangle). SpeedCon 2014 – Saturday, February 8, 2014 from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM (EST) in Raleigh, NC. SpeedCon is an unconference for all aspects of communication. Hosted by the NC State Technical Communication Association, this event is a great opportunity for students, alumni, faculty, professionals, and any other interested parties to learn about all forms of communication. We’re very excited to host this year’s event at the Hunt Library where we’ll get to utilize some of the cool (look, there’s no other word for it) digital spaces for our sessions.
Demo Day for the 15th Annual Duke Start-Up Challenge – Wednesday, February 19, 2014 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM (MST) in Durham, NC. The Duke Start-Up Challenge, founded in 1999, is designed to help Duke’s entrepreneurship community flourish, with a year long entrepreneurship competition followed by an accelerator program. All Duke students, alumni, faculty, staff, parents, and the general public are welcome to join us for the Demo Day for the 15th Annual Duke Start-Up Challenge. Over 100 Duke teams entered the Duke Start-Up Challenge this year.
Triangle Open Data Day – February 22-23, 2014 in Raleigh, NC. It’s a gathering of citizens to write applications, liberate data, create visualizations and publish analyses using open public data to show support for and encourage the adoption of open data policies by the world’s local, regional and national governments. Registration is open, tickets are going fast and the event is sure to sell out again! Triangle Open Data Day is produced by Technology Tank and Code for Cary.

Triangle Usability Professionals’ Association (TriUXPA) Conference – Using Personas and Storytelling Effectively with Whitney Quesenbery – Wednesday, February 26, 2014 from 8:30 A.M. – 5:00 P.M. (EST) in Cary, NC. You’ll work individually and in teams to explore different ways to use personas effectively, and how to write stories for them.

North Carolina Science Festival – March 28 – April 13, 2014. The North Carolina Science Festival is a multi-day celebration showcasing science and technology. ProductCampRTP 2014 UnConference – Saturday, April 12, 2014 from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (EDT) in Morrisville, NC. ProductCampRTP is a unique opportunity to share, network and learn with professionals involved in product management, marketing and development from around the Triangle. STEAM Makers Fair for Teachers – Thursday, May 1, 2014 from 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM (EDT) in Raleigh, NC. Teachers of grades PreK–12, all disciplines. Join us for an after-school interlude exploring STEAM through drop-in, hands-on, creative demonstrations connecting techniques in the visual arts with STEM.
